History

Each year the Grand Rapids Symphony’s Lollipop Concerts, sponsored by Target, touch the lives of 16,680 preschool through second-grade students from 175 schools throughout West Michigan. These 40 minute performances are designed for younger children, featuring interactive elements and the inclusion of a story which students study prior to visiting the concert. The Grand Rapids Symphony musicians wear colorful t-shirts indicating the orchestral family in which they belong and are introduced to the audience by Associate Conductor John Varineau, who wears a color all of his own, purple. Each year, a total of 18 school concerts and four Saturday performances for general audiences are presented, bringing the total of Lollipop Concert attendees to approximately 20,580.

Schools travel from Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo and Ottawa counties to attend the Lollipop Concerts at Sunshine Community Church, Forest Hills Fine Arts Center or DeWitt Auditorium – Zeeland East High School.

In recognition of your generous gift to the Lollipop Concert program, the Sponsor will receive the following:

  • The Sponsor will receive 10 complimentary tickets to each Saturday performance for a total of 40 tickets. (value: $160)

  • The Sponsor will be recognized in all four volumes of the Symphony’s regular season DeVos Performance Hall program book under the Corporate Council of a Thousand. (Distribution: 100,000)

  • The Symphony’s website, www.grsymphony.org, will recognize the Sponsor as a member of the Symphony’s Corporate Council of a Thousand.

Lollipop Concerts

Concert Sponsorship

In recognition of your generous gift to the Lollipop Concert program, the Sponsor will receive the following:

  • The Sponsor will receive a half page, four-color ad in one volume of the program book. (Distribution: 25,000, Value: $880)

  • The Sponsor will receive eight tickets for each set of performances for a total of sixteen (Value: $64)

  • The Sponsor logo will be featured on the Symphony’s website during the months of the sponsored concerts.

  • The Sponsor employees will have the opportunity to volunteer as ushers at each Lollipop Concert.

  • The Sponsor names will be featured on the Symphony’s education brochure and supplemental materials for the Lollipops Concerts.

  • The Sponsor will have a subscription to and receive a listing throughout the season in the Symphony’s Newsletter “In Concert” as Corporate Council of a Thousand member. (Distribution: 23,000)

  • The Sponsor will be listed in the 2007 Education Brochure as a Concert Sponsor of the Lollipop Concerts. (Distribution: 80,000)
