Access to Music

History

Each spring, the Grand Rapids Symphony presents “Access to Music,” a one-hour concert free of charge to individuals who cannot attend regularly ticketed concerts due to physical or mental challenges or economic barriers. With an audience of nearly 2,000 individuals from ages five to ninety, this concert is held in the DeVos Place Convention Center – utilizing a barrier-free exhibit hall. The program for “Access to Music” includes an eclectic mix of classical music, movie and pops favorites conducted by Associate Conductor John Varineau. Over 100 volunteers and high school students donate their time to facilitate the concert-going experience for this special event.

The “Access to Music” concerts have been a tradition at the Grand Rapids Symphony since spring of 1982 and draws an audience from the following counties: Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Muskegon, Newaygo and Ottawa.

  • The Sponsor will be listed throughout the season in the DeVos Performance Hall program book's Corporate Council of a Thousand. (approximate distribution: 100,000)

  • Any media releases created by our marketing department for the sponsored concert will list the Sponsor or will display the Sponsor logo if space is available.

  • The Sponsor will have a subscription to and be listed throughout in the Symphony’s Newsletter “In Concert” as Corporate Council of a Thousand member. (Distribution: 23,000)

  • The Sponsor will receive recognition on the Symphony’s website, www.grsymphony.org.

  • The Sponsor will be recognized in the Access to Music concert program using your corporate logo. (Distribution: 2,000)

  • The Sponsor will receive a quarter-page, black/white ad that will appear in one volume of the DeVos Performance Hall program book. (Value: $330)

  • The Sponsor will be recognized from stage at the Access to Music concert.

  • A sign at the Access to Music concert will recognize the Sponsor.

  • The Sponsor will be listed throughout the season in the DeVos Performance Hall program book's Corporate Council of a Thousand. (approximate distribution: 100,000)

  • Any media releases created by our marketing department for the sponsored concert will list the Sponsor or will display the Sponsor logo if space is available.
